31. Learn To Use Video Editing Software

This should perhaps be entitled "begin to learn to use video editing software" as I have not yet got very far. However, I have worked out how to rotate a video of birds in my garden from landscape (above) to portrait (below), thanks to this useful blog post, written by the creator of Openshot, the video editing software I'm using.

I've also worked out how to export the video into different formats ...

... and to use the audio settings which are part of the advanced options of the export menu to remove unwanted sound from it, which are the three things I most wanted to do.

I'm hoping this should be enough to enable me to finally post my missing Thing To Do no. 13 - watch this space!

23. Look Through All My Photos

I haven't managed to blog for a while, as I spent most of January too asleep to think, so I have several things to catch up with: I'll try to keep them short so I can post them all while I'm awake!

At our last house we had a large under-stairs cupboard which we filled with all the things we didn't have space for elsewhere, including a bookshelf full of old photo albums, a big cardboard box full of copies of photos, a stack of more recent prints, and a shoebox full of mostly unsorted negatives.

When we moved I started sorting through all of these: I cleared out some of the tattiest older albums and put the photos they'd contained into suitable plastic bags, and I started stacking the newer albums into nicer storage boxes so that they could go in the lounge.

But I wasn't looking at the photos, just sorting them - and really, there's no point having a lot of photos if you don't look through them from time to time. So this year I have started to look through all my photos.

I have dozens of albums containing thousands of photos - plus several thousand more photos on my hard drive and on DVDs - so like learning to play the keyboard, this is something which will take me more than just a year. But it's nice to have made a start, and I am rediscovering some old treasures.
